China vows 'forceful, resolute measures' if United States does not stop 'arming' Taiwan after Biden administration approves $500m weapons package

China has warned that it will take “resolute, forceful measures” if the United States does not cease “arming” Taiwan.

The Biden Administration this week signed off on a US$500 million (AU$780m) weapons sale to the island which included infrared search, tracking systems for advanced F-16 fighter jets as well as other software and equipment.

“This proposed sale serves US national, economic, and security interests by supporting the recipient’s continuing efforts to modernise its armed forces and to maintain a credible defensive capability,” the US State Department said in a statement.The Department said the sale would also assist Taiwan’s ability to defend […]
