Secretary Blinken’s Meeting with Israeli President Herzog

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met today with Israeli President Isaac Herzog in Israel. Secretary Blinken reaffirmed the United States’ support for Israel’s right to defend itself consistent with international humanitarian law. Secretary Blinken and President Herzog discussed continued efforts to secure the release of hostages; facilitate the safe departure of U.S. citizens and foreign nationals out of Gaza; augment the pace and volume of humanitarian assistance entering Gaza for distribution to Palestinian civilians; and prevent the conflict from spreading.
