With a new Government of Montenegro taking office today, the United States continues to stand with the country and citizens of Montenegro in advancing EU accession and maintaining Euro-Atlantic values.
The new Montenegrin government should be accountable to its stated goals of “full membership of Montenegro in the European Union; active and credible membership in the NATO alliance; improving good neighborly relations; and strengthening the role of our country in multilateral organizations.” As a fellow NATO Ally, we are concerned that factions which have not historically supported these stated objectives could impede Montenegro’s progress.
