United States IRS Posts Text of CAA Under DTA, Protocols With Denmark

The United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS) July 31 posted online the text of a competent authority agreement (CAA) under the 1999 DTA, and 1999 and 2006 protocols with Denmark, regarding the interpretation of the term “North American Free Trade Agreement” (NAFTA). NAFTA is replaced by an agreement between the U.S., Mexico, and Canada (USMCA), signed Nov. 30, 2018. The CAA provides that references to NAFTA in the DTA and protocols are understood as references to the USMCA, which entered into force July 1, 2020.
