David F. Boyd was born and raised in Montrose, Calif. In high school, he ran cross country and was elected to the senior class government in La Canada High School, graduating in 1965. David F. Boyd, United States Army As a result, he immediately was promoted to a rank of specialist E4. Spc. Boyd was deployed to Cam Ranh Bay U.S. Army Depot 1st Logistical Command in Vietnam, where he served from December 1968 to the end of 1969. His duty was an inventory supply auditor and his success in that deployment earned him a promotion to specialist E5.
